Chapter 2 Sneak Peek #3: Alchemica is a farming game
We already teased a plant's sprite on Facebook for the community to give it a proper name, and in this devlog we will properly introduce the brand new feature for Alchemica that will use said sprite.
Item gathering is the lifeblood of the game that mostly can be achieved through repeated dungeon explorations. This collecting aspect of the game is by far the grindiest, and so we had introduced Fighter's Guild Inquiries and Dungeon Experience to ease the process. In Chapter 2, we will be adding yet another way for players to gather materials, by adding gardening as a new and optional activity for Charlotte to perform.
When a player explores around Farrowveil, they will notice a small patch of soil located at the front of Tristan's house. When he and his wife return from their lovey dovey trip, Charlotte will eventually be given permission to manage their little garden. There, you will be able to cultivate a special kind of plant that has the ability to replicate an item you feed to it. Its name is still undecided by the way, so keep your suggestions coming!
We already teased how Fresh Water will play an important role to the game, and this feature is the main reason of it. In order for the plants to grow and keep replicating the items you want, you need to water them on a day to day basis. If you forget to water them, they will eventually wither away, and Charlotte will need to replant a new one from scratch.
Of course, for the balance of the game, these plants can replicate a limited type of items. There will be two types of seed available in the game: a regular one and a special one. A regular plant will be able to replicate almost every type of materials in the game, while the special one is able to replicate more complicated items like bombs and potions. How and what you need to obtain the seeds are part of the storyline that are yet to be developed, so no spoilers yet!
That is all for now on our sneak peek on Chapter 2. What do you think about the new changes? Feel free to submit ideas and suggestions to us, we will be very happy to hear any feedback from you. Until next time :)
Sincerely,
Crunchy Bit Games.

I honestly do not like this addition, it seems as a rushed attempt of solving the issue of having to do repetitively lower level dungeons to obtain crafting items, as you currently need like 10 to 15 runs on a lower level dungeon to craft enough bombs for a single full clear run of the next tier of dungeon as soon as you start doing it.
This mechanic itself seems silly, I think you should work on improving the already existing mechanics and issues before adding new content I enjoy your game, a lot, hence me sharing my honest oppinion here, this new content, as it is, looks quite dull
There's already dungeon experience mechanic in place for Chapter 1 which significantly eases material pickups for dungeons, with repeated runs eventually quadruple the amount of what you gather.
This new feature adds another aspect for the game for players who wants to collect more of a specific type of materials but want to spend their time gathering resources on another dungeon, or run the store instead. The gardening aspect is also entirely optional, and players can just ignore it if they wish to do so.
very nice :) wait for chapter 2 so long but it is worth that, hope team developer can add more slots and increase limit on item to 999 :)
